Publisher review:
AutoFollowUp is a Perl mailing list program meant to run on your web server. It was created expressly for those users who want to have an autoresponder hosted on their own site, but have severe limitations imposed by the webserver administrator. A few examples of these limitations could be a limit on the number of emails sent per hour, no creation of cron jobs (automated script executions), no Server Side Includes (SSI) or no access to SQL databases. AutoFollowUp (AFU) automates the process of following up with your customers. You can create an unlimited number of lists, each list containing an unlimited number of consecutive emails. For example, each list could be set up to contain sequenced sales letters for different products you have available on your site. After subscribing, a user could receive a welcome email, and then potentially get another email from you every day, every week, every month, or at any interval you specify. PersonalizationAFU lets you place special fields in your emails to personalize them. First name, full name, ip address, date subscribed, and email address are a few of the fields available. Opt-In/Opt OutYou can enable a double opt-in/opt-out system using AutoFollowUp to be certain that those who are subscribed actually want to be subscribed. The ban list also ensures customers aren't accidentally resubscribed or emailed. Subscribe and unsubscribe requests are handled automatically as well-- customers can click an unsubscribe link in the sales letter, or reply with the word 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. DatabaseIf you can't use MySQL databases on your webserver, you will still be able to run AFU, since it utilizes multiple flat text-file based databases: a different one for each list, and a separate file for each outgoing email. Control PanelThe control panel in AFU gives you complete control over each list:1. Automatically create the HTML for forms, 2. Edit the users in your list, 3. Create new lists and new letters4.
